The MFAH is currently in search of a reliable security professional who possesses proven leadership capabilities and a strong ethical foundation. The Security Manager is pivotal in guiding a team of Security Officers responsible for safeguarding displayed artworks and ensuring order within their designated galleries. This role is essential for minimizing risks, assisting visitors, and preventing property loss within the Museum.

Position Overview:

Title: Security Manager

Reports to: Assistant Head of Security - Operations

Classification: Exempt

Schedule: 40-hour work week

Compensation: $49,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of up to 20 Security Officers.
  • Conduct daily roll calls, manage attendance, and assign posts.
  • Provide performance feedback to Security Officers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with the AHSO to conduct performance evaluations.
  • Prepare detailed reports on security and safety incidents.
  • Facilitate training sessions on security protocols.
  • Conduct orientations for new security personnel as required.
  • Enforce museum and security policies consistently.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
  • Maintain a visible presence in galleries to support guests and staff.
  • Compile end-of-shift reports to ensure continuity of information across shifts.

General Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations of MFAH's Security Officers, including report writing, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure security personnel adhere to appearance standards and carry necessary equipment.
  • Accountable for the safety of all individuals within MFAH facilities and the protection of assets.
  • Verify compliance of third-party vendors with MFAH security policies.
  • Engage with guests to provide assistance and enforce museum regulations.
  • Conduct security opening and closing procedures for all properties.
  • Participate in the museum's emergency response team and may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Offer guidance on security procedures to MFAH staff and affiliates.
  • Escalate security and performance issues to appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Maintain effective relationships across various departments within MFAH.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a resource for staff regarding procedural inquiries.
  • Manage security staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Issue and collect necessary equipment from security personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead during emergencies, ensuring all security personnel are informed of protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or five years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three years in a supervisory role within security.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic business skills.
  • Clear criminal background check and valid security license required.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must possess accurate vision and hearing capabilities.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may be conducted indoors or outdoors, depending on assignment.
