  • Assist the Controls Engineer with troubleshooting issues on equipment.
  • Help improve Overall Equipment Efficiency by using innovative processes and equipment.
  • Work as a buffer between Controls and Maintenance to solve complex issues with automated equipment.
  • Solve more complex technical issues than a maintenance technician.
  • Diagnose issues using electrical schematics.
  • Learn and function all automated equipment.
  • Inspect and assess production equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
  • Operate power hand tools and specialized electrical equipment.
  • Fabricate parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Communicate with the production team and maintain a clean work area.
  • Prepare and submit maintenance reports.
  • Assist the maintenance supervisor and engineering team as needed.
  • Perform basic PLC troubleshooting on automated systems, using ladder logic and relay logic.
  • Understand and troubleshoot automation devices such as RFID, I/O modules, pneumatic valves, sensors, VFDs, etc.
  • Work with vendors to solve issues and improve automated applications.
  • Identify and understand all automation devices and hardware at an intermediate level.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of college or university program certificate in Mechatronics preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Less than four occurrences as of posting closing date.
  • Must not have any active Corrective Actions beyond Verbal Warning as of posting closing date.
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
  • A working knowledge of JIT processes and JTDS is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the job, the candidate should be able to lift 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Line and shift assignment is at the discretion of the Department Manager.
  • PLC and robotics are not a necessity but a plus.
  • Is an expert at all tasks of a Maintenance Tech 1.
  • Is proficient at Robotic functionality and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to accept constructive criticism in a positive fashion and demonstrate strong people skills while managing direct reports in a similar fashion.
  • Must demonstrate respect and listening skills.
  • Prospective candidates should be well-versed in the company handbook and local bargaining agreement in order to keep people informed through good communication.
  • A strong ability to take and deliver orders.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Candidates for this position should also be willing to learn the use of basic statistical concepts.
