About the Role:

The University of California, Irvine seeks a skilled Medical Records Coder to join our team. As a Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing patient records to identify accurate codes for admission, care received, and severity of illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely review of patient records to ensure accurate coding
  • Collection and inclusion of required data elements for federal and state reporting
  • Maintenance of effective working relationships across the Health System

Requirements:

  • 2 years of working experience or demonstrated competence in coding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience as a coder in an acute care hospital
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
