As a Pharmacy Technician at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This position requires technical and clerical skills to operate the pharmacy efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Selects prescribed medications according to patient medication files or cart-fill lists.
- Receives and stores merchandise, and monitors inventory levels.
- Delivers medications to patient care areas and inspects emergency medication trays.
- Packages and labels unit dose oral liquids and tablets, and maintains pre-pack records.
- Loads drugs into an automated drug dispensing system and maintains inventory for non-automated patient care areas.
- Responds to medication requests from nursing personnel and other departments, and follows processes to ensure medication safety.
- Prepares sterile products in an accurate and aseptic manner, and properly manages pharmaceutical waste.
- Credits patients for returned medications and returns them to inventory.
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- ACPE I.V Certification with completion of a 40-hour course in I.V. admixture is preferred.
- Sterile Products Certification through an accredited program is required if compounding sterile products.
- 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
