Authorization Specialist Job Description

At Skin And Cancer Institute, we are seeking a highly skilled Authorization Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our patients receive the necessary authorization for their medical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interview and assist patients with authorization documents, as required.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports, adhering to professional, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and track patient authorizations, notifying supervisors of any expired dates.
  • Verify patient benefits with insurance providers to ensure timely payment for services.
  • Obtain, review, and input insurance authorization and referrals prior to patient services.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of medical coding, including CPT and ICD-9.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in data entry and typing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
