KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of this role is to ensure the effective packaging of materials and the timely preparation of products for shipment.

  • Prepare items for dispatch by labeling, packaging, maintaining records of shipped goods, and documenting weights.
  • Confirm the accuracy of shipments.
  • Inspect materials received from warehouse and assembly areas.
  • Report any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper processing of shipping documentation.
  • Perform basic clerical tasks.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Maintain organized and safe stock storage.
  • Keep the workspace tidy.
  • Prioritize outgoing shipments effectively.
  • Manage inventory control processes.
  • Reject damaged items and adhere to return procedures.
  • Lift and transport heavy items.
  • Communicate any issues to team leaders or the distribution manager.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles.
  • Secure pallets with wrapping and strapping.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by team leaders or the distribution manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Formal training in Lean Enterprise principles, with at least one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Experience with hand scanning technology.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions and assignments.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Competence in interpreting written instructions and specifications.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Basic understanding of product specifications.
  • Familiarity with company policies regarding customer deliveries.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.
  • Clear and legible handwriting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is situated in a manufacturing and warehouse setting, reporting directly to the Assistant Distribution Manager. The work schedule typically follows a Monday to Friday format, with the possibility of overtime as needed.
