Job Title: Clinical-Scientific - Lab Technician

Job Summary:

The Lab Technician II will work in a collaborative environment providing lab support to Research Associates and Scientists. This role involves maintaining laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, ensuring a clean and organized laboratory, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, including coordination and communication with vendors
  • Ensure a clean and organized laboratory and assist with organizational initiatives and monthly lab cleanups
  • Develop routine maintenance schedules and coordinate with staff for annual/biannual maintenance
  • Manage maintenance contracts with vendors and submit through Contract Management System
  • Maintain supply availability with increasing understanding of usage and coordinate with internal teams
  • Prepare solutions and buffers as needed and manage waste and waste disposal for laboratory equipment
  • Perform daily equipment calibration as required, including pH and conductivity probes
  • Clean AKTA equipment and perform system storage as needed
  • Manage freezers and freezer inventory
  • Perform various other laboratory management tasks

Organizational Relationships:

The individual will interact primarily with the Purification Development laboratory staff in Bothell in a technical support role. May have limited interactions with other groups sharing the Bothell lab space.

Education and Experience:

1-3 years in this role or a related position. High School diploma, minimum; Associates or Bachelors Degree desirable and 1+ years.

Technical Skills Requirements:

Individual contributor with no people management responsibilities. Understanding of basic biochemistry principles, such as buffer and solution preparation.

Physical Position Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform basic tasks in a laboratory environment. May have exposure to hazardous materials such as concentrated acids and bases.

  • Buffer Preparation Skills (Chemical Knowledge, pH Measurement, Solution Preparation, Sterilization Techniques, Buffer Capacity Testing)
  • Core Bio Chem Laboratory Skills (Spectrophotometry, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, Microscopy, Cleaning AKTA equipment, Lab Notebook Maintenance, Lab Safety Protocols, Regulatory Compliance)
  • Organizational/Training Skills (Lean Six Sigma)
