School Nurse Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Suwannee County School Board. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Job Summary:The School Nurse will be responsible for providing direct health services and consultations to students, enhancing their educational process and potential. This includes administering and evaluating health screenings, assisting with medication administration, and monitoring students with health needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer and evaluate health screenings as scheduled.
- Assist in the taking of prescribed medication by students and maintain required records.
- Monitor students placed on new medication per doctor's orders.
- Assess student health needs and provide first aid within the scope of licensure.
- Communicate with parents/staff regarding student health problems and refer to Public Health Nurse as needed.
- Assist in completing health room cards and keeping records on students referred to the clinic.
- Handle physician's orders for medications and transcribe onto the medication sheet.
- Maintain clinic area and supplies as appropriate.
- Ride school bus with specific medically fragile students when assigned.
- Registered Nurse certification.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Valid Florida License for Registered Nurse.
- Or other appropriate certificates/licenses required by the District.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff. The ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision is essential. The School Nurse must be able to tolerate highly stressful situations and maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
