Job Summary

As a Grant-Funded Academic Support Specialist, you will provide academic support to students during afterschool hours, Monday through Thursday, up to 19 hours per week. This position is exclusively for current GCSU students.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching/Instructing - 70%
    Conduct academic and academic enrichment activities in an afterschool style, maintaining a conducive learning atmosphere and adhering to the goals and objectives of the 21st CCLC program. Implement standards-based academics, differentiating instruction for various learning styles. Provide homework and tutoring assistance, promote discovery of competence, foster high expectations, and celebrate program/classroom successes. Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior.
  • Administrative Support - 20%
    Attend to attendance, parent calls, and other data collection as needed to support the grant.
  • Other - 10%
    Participate in staff and parent orientations, meetings, and ongoing professional development training as part of an education team. Work closely with the Education Coordinator to maintain and submit necessary records and reports. Take recommendations from the Education Coordinator to ensure continuous improvement of the program. Foster trust and teamwork, following the guidelines of the 21st CCLC Handbook. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Must be able to satisfy an FBI national criminal background check and/or drug screen.
