About the Role

The National Society of Genetic Counselors is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team in the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine. As a key member of our clinical and academic faculty, you will provide expert cancer genetic counseling to patients at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and other UCI Health sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide genetic counseling to patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses, including colorectal, breast, and ovarian cancer
  • Develop and implement individualized counseling plans to address patients' unique needs and concerns
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Supervise genetic counseling students and other trainees, providing guidance and mentorship
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to the development of new genetic counseling programs
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or its equivalent
  • ABGC board certification or active candidate status
  • California genetic counselor license or current eligibility to become licensed
  • Experience providing genetic counseling in an Oncology setting
  • Demonstrated capability for teaching and mentorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of employment as a Genetic Counselor
  • Spanish language competency
