Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Park Maintenance Worker to join our team at the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing general park maintenance work, including grounds and trail maintenance, custodial work, landscaping, and routine building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicles and equipment, including riding mowers, tractors with attachments, large trucks, weed eaters, hand tools, and leaf blowers.
  • Perform general custodial duties, including cleaning and restocking of bathrooms and emptying trash and recycling containers.
  • Conduct general landscaping duties, including planting, weeding, trimming, and removing trees and shrubs.
  • Respond to emergencies, including inclement weather conditions and snow removal.
  • Split, load, and restock firewood.
  • Open park gates on weekends.
  • Provide support for special events, including tent setup and breakdown, tables and chairs setup and breakdown, etc.
  • Perform assignments independently or as part of a team.
  • Keep supervisor up to date on assigned work tasks.
Requirements
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Have at least one year of experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance, or park maintenance.
  • Be able to read and write.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
Benefits
