Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is between $35,000 and $50,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dental Care Specialist to join our team at Cumberland County Jail in Portland, ME. As a Dental Care Specialist, you will assist dentists in providing clinical, administrative, and staff services, including assisting with dental procedures, preparing and sterilizing equipment, and maintaining patient records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance to dentists during procedures, including preventive and prosthetic treatments
  • Prepare and sterilize dental equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance protocols are followed
  • Monitor and maintain radiation safety procedures and protocols
  • Develop and process dental radiographs according to provider orders
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and processing paperwork

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program with current state license/certification to practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • At least one (1) year experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Proficient with electronic medical records
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance, including background check and drug screen
