We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Key Responsibilities- Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the surgical services departments, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Perform as a first assistant when assigned, utilizing your skills and knowledge to support the surgical team.
- Review preference cards and select the appropriate supplies and equipment for surgical procedures, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Accountable for supplies, equipment, and environmental support, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Drape equipment in a sterile fashion, identifying specimens for processing and counting instruments, sharps, and sponges.
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization, removing soiled instruments and equipment appropriately.
- Recognize and report situations that impede patient safety, safeguarding patient confidentiality and maintaining a secure environment.
- Maintain stock in Operating Room supply carts, recognizing and reporting problems related to kits, equipment, or supplies.
- Contribute to the cleanliness and order of the unit, facilitating efficient turnover time by prioritizing activities related to equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety measures are maintained, assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures with a high degree of efficiency.
- Assist in daily maintenance of the department, completing work assignments, restocking, pulling cases for the next day, and maintaining equipment in good working order.
- Utilize non-chargeable items in a cost-effective manner, orienting and training others on appropriate instruments/equipment use.
- Follow all appropriate procedures to decontaminate, sterilize, and disinfect equipment and instruments, correctly assembling and wrapping/packages items.
- Prepare items in an organized and timely manner, operating the autoclave unit appropriately and performing high-level disinfection processes.
- Perform other duties as required, clearly communicating and continuously supporting the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of Surgical Technology or equivalent armed forces training.
- Must be certified or eligible for certification, with certification obtained within 6 months of hire date.
- Must be able to work a 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. schedule, with four 10-hour shifts per week and 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period.
- Bonus available for external candidates, requiring a 24-month commitment.
