Job Title: Custodian I

Join the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) team as a Custodian I, providing essential custodial and support services for our facilities, activities, and events. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our guests and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Custodial Duties:
    • Perform general custodial services, adhering to best practices for safety, efficiency, and environmental concerns.
    • Clean and stock restrooms daily, maintaining proper sanitary conditions and appearance.
    • Responsible for waste disposal throughout the OMSI campus, including interior and exterior spaces.
    • Support OMSI departments with general custodial services.
  • Working Conditions:
    • This is a non-exempt, paid hourly position.
    • This position is regular full-time, scheduled for 40 hours/week.
    • Requires working onsite at the museum location.
    • Scheduled to work a five-day work week, with flexibility to discuss with the Custodial Operations Leadership Team.
    • This position is scheduled to work Wednesday - Sunday, 2:30pm - 11pm.
    • Requires working on weekends, holidays, special events, and/or evenings as scheduled.

    • Ability to pivot between individual and team work.
    • Ability to model and support a positive team dynamic with paid and unpaid staff.
  • Custodial Skills:
    • Working knowledge with operating and maintaining custodial tools.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve custodial-related issues.
    • Ability to learn and follow safety and protocol regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient or native fluency in a second language (non-English).
