Job Summary:
As a Hemodialysis Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dialysis units. Under the general supervision of a registered nurse, you will be responsible for preparing patients for dialysis treatment, initiating and terminating treatment as prescribed, and performing various patient care-related duties. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the dialysis unit, as well as performing quality control checks on equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare patients for dialysis treatment, including taking vital signs and performing other necessary pre-treatment checks.
  2. Initiate and terminate dialysis treatment as prescribed by the physician, and monitor patients during treatment.
  3. Perform various patient care-related duties, such as administering medications, performing blood draws, and providing emotional support to patients.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the dialysis unit, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and supplies.
  5. Perform quality control checks on equipment and supplies, and report any issues or concerns to the registered nurse.
  6. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure that patients receive high-quality care and that their needs are met.

Requirements:
  • One year of recent experience as a Hemodialysis Technician required.
  • Completed a hemodialysis training program that is approved by the medical director and governing body.
  • Hemodialysis Technician Certificate (California) required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Clinical Hemodialysis Technician Certificate required.

Working Conditions:
This is an on-call position, and days and hours may vary. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively is essential. The ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members is also essential. The ability to read, speak, and write English with clarity of expression is required. The ability to understand clinical/medical vocabulary written or spoken in English is also required.
