About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Lotus Technology Group, Inc. as part of our Low Voltage Hardware Mechanical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing Infotainment ECUs, Power distribution modules, and Gateway ECUs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional vehicle integration teams to develop detailed requirements for electro-mechanical systems and parts.
  • Collaborate with the Packaging team to understand vehicle-level packaging locations and verify thermal performance of ECUs.
  • Design 3D and 2D models with manufacturing tolerances, ensuring good Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Work with Tier 1/2/Contract Manufacturers vendors on component development plans, clarifying technical queries.
  • Perform CAE analysis for structural integrity and design optimization, working with the Thermal engineer to verify thermal management.
  • Design electro-mechanical systems, such as interconnects and pins for PCBA side.
  • Work with the Environmental Test team and Vehicle Test teams to design test plans to validate designs at component, system, and vehicle levels.
  • Collaborate with EE engineers to finalize connectors based on established requirements.
  • Work with the Supply chain team to assess old and new suppliers for the project, ensuring cost-effective, quality, and timely delivery.
Requirements
  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 4 years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of different levels of electronics packaging, preferably Level 4 packaging.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and heat transfer basics.
  • Demonstrate full ownership of assigned systems/components.
  • Experience with system validation and instrumentation.
