Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatrical Wig and Hair Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our entertainment team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality wigs and hair styles for our performers.

Responsibilities
  • Design and create theatrical wigs and hair styles for performers
  • Restyle and maintain wigs according to the daily schedule for all shows
  • Work closely with performers to apply and pin theatrical wigs and headdresses during show run, rehearsals, and preparation
  • Assist fellow team members with headdresses, wigs, and quick changes in both set-up and run of show
  • Perform other tasks and carry out projects as assigned by the lead hair artist or director
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment, conforming to all established health and safety policies and procedures
  • Repair, construct, clean, and prep wigs for the run of the show
  • Maintain ongoing maintenance of wigs, headdresses, or hairpieces
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance and participate in rotation of duties as directed
  • Clean up, repack, and store all headdresses and hair-related items at the end of each show
Requirements
  • Diploma in hairstyling or at least 3 years of relevant experience in all aspects of theatrical wigs, hairdressing, and styling
  • Able to wash and set wigs and recreate a style from a photo in a clear and defined manner
  • Hands-on knowledge in the appropriate use of styling tools and pinning
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of live entertainment and Insomniac brands/shows
  • Experience in entertainment, film, theater, theme park, or live events is a plus
  • Ability to work longer festival hours, which may total up to 12 hours onsite at times
Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments
  • May work in drastic temperature climates

Insomniac takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the California Law, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.

The expected compensation for this position is: $16.00 USD Hourly
