This position demands extensive knowledge of Kubernetes, Azure services, DevOps methodologies, and automation tools to enhance development workflows and guarantee the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud offerings.

The initiatives of Schneider Electric's Sustainability Architecture Group focus on harnessing cutting-edge technologies to create innovative and eco-friendly solutions. By employing Azure services such as IoT, AI, and machine learning, we develop systems that empower clients to optimize energy consumption, minimize carbon emissions, and enhance operational efficiency. The role of a Cloud Solutions Engineer is essential in enabling the Energy and Sustainability Services division to effectively create and manage cloud solutions on the Sustainability platform, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability while optimizing resource use and refining development processes. The Sustainability platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure and comprises both Azure services and Kubernetes infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect platform services and solutions to support modern applications and architectures aligned with our sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with a skilled team of architects and developers to create SaaS-based energy and sustainability solutions for our business clients.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to devise and implement software solutions that tackle sustainability challenges, automation, DevOps, and platform issues.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Optimize Azure resource usage to manage costs while ensuring performance and scalability.
  • Apply security best practices and compliance standards in Azure solutions.
  • Automate the creation of Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or ARM.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications and services on Azure and Kubernetes.
  • Create scripts and automation tools using Python or other scripting languages to manage and maintain Azure and Kubernetes resources.
  • Implement automation for routine tasks, scaling, and monitoring.
  • Establish monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Collect and analyze logs and metrics to verify the performance and availability of Kubernetes and Azure resources.
  • Monitor and manage resource consumption and billing.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to sustainability.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant certifications, such as Kubernetes Certified Application Developer, Kubernetes Certified Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Azure Administrator Associate, are advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure services, Azure DevOps, and related tools.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) and related tools (e.g., ARM templates, Terraform).
  • Understanding of networking principles such as TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, encryption, etc.
  • Knowledge of network and security principles in Azure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
