Position Title: Salty Snack Packaging Operator

General Responsibilities
The Salty Snack Packaging Operator, under general supervision, is tasked with the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of packaging machinery while ensuring a steady flow of product to the packaging lines. Key responsibilities include making minor adjustments to machinery for optimal product quality, troubleshooting, machinery maintenance, and documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain shift documentation (e.g., Metal Detector and Batch Order Verifications)

• Interpret production schedules and plan accordingly.

• Utilize MicroStrategy for schedule interpretation.

• Print labels on various printers, selecting the appropriate program for each; perform maintenance on printers.

• Conduct nitrogen testing.

• Ensure efficient operation of packaging machinery by monitoring codes, dates, and pricing.

• Maintain an adequate supply of roll stock and ensure availability of all packaging materials for each machine.

• Set up and program bag makers.

• Write and/or edit machine micro logic as necessary to sustain an efficient and low waste operation.

• Create and modify code dates.

• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including minor repairs and adjustments.

• Conduct span calibration and adjustments on scales, ensuring proper operation.

• Operate packaging equipment, including case sealers and robot cells, involving setups, troubleshooting, changeovers, procedural adjustments, sanitation, preventative maintenance, and shutdown.

• Plan for machine changeovers and execute transitions between product items efficiently.

• Monitor and adjust machinery to ensure proper film cut-off and bag sealing.

• Ensure machines operate at standard speeds.

• Monitor product appearance and adhere to weight control protocols.

• Conduct bag weight checks regularly and inspect for quality issues.

• Operate baggers, scales, counting conveyors, seal checkers, weight checks, case packers, and other auxiliary equipment as required.

• Identify and resolve packaged product quality issues.

• Account for product run-off and manage accordingly, sorting and reworking good product.

• Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas, ensuring proper sanitation.

• Report maintenance issues to the appropriate technician or supervisor promptly.

• Adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines for housekeeping and personal protection.

• Store supplies in designated areas.

• Keep work area aisles and exits clear of obstructions; remove trash from the floor.

• Follow safe lifting and carrying instructions for various items; report equipment issues and job-related injuries.

• May provide leadership and direction to packers.

• May serve as a Back-up Packaging Coordinator or other technical position as needed.

• If applicable, monitor and replenish seasoning to ensure proper coverage on products.


• Mandatory overtime may be required.

• Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
