Our 46-bed Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit at Corewell Health is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. Our team of experienced healthcare professionals specializes in caring for patients with complex medical needs, including those requiring cardiac, pulmonary, and transplant care.
Our Patient PopulationWe admit patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), cardiac valve surgeries, lung surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and ventricular assist device (VAD) implantations. Our patients require close monitoring and medical, physical, and emotional support to ensure optimal recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage patients with complex medical needs, including those with high-risk medications and monitoring requirements
- Provide expert care for patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions, including rhythm assessment and surgical site management
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document patient education and learning in the health record

To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A current RN license in the state of Michigan
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
