Senior Indirect Tax Accountant

Vaco Boston has partnered with our client, an emerging environmental management company, to find a highly motivated Senior Indirect Tax Accountant to join their corporate tax team. The ideal candidate will analyze and research tax issues for both US and Canada, with a focus on indirect tax. This role will also involve partnering with the accounting team and external consultants to ensure accurate tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage workflow and general compliance related to sales and use taxes, heavy vehicle and excise taxes.
  • Assist the Indirect Tax Manager in performing research on relevant tax issues.
  • Ensure compliance and reporting obligations for indirect tax.
  • Partner with departments across the company to obtain necessary documentation for tax purposes.
  • Analyze and reconcile tax accrual accounts.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of tax matters.
  • Support with other miscellaneous returns and special tax projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate tax and sales use tax background.
  • Knowledgeable of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Familiar with tax laws and regulations in relevant state, local and federal jurisdictions.
  • Experience with tax research.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
