Job Title: CDL Driver

Join Bear Truss, a leading manufacturer of truss and wall panel components, as a CDL Driver. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering materials to job sites, inspecting and maintaining our fleet of trucks, and ensuring timely and safe transportation of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a commercial vehicle with a capacity of over three tons, safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect and maintain trucks to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Deliver materials to customers' satisfaction, adhering to delivery schedules and deadlines.
  • Participate in a positive work environment, maintaining a safe and respectful attitude towards colleagues and customers.
  • Assist forklift operators when loading and unloading materials.
  • Check orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Relay messages sent by customers while on the job.
  • Assist supervisors, other employees, and other work areas as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse.
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the truck.
  • Participate in and complete assigned trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
  • Minimum experience: 1 year CDL experience preferred. Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required. 1 year CDL experience required for interstate commerce. Wide load driving experience required.
  • Special skills: Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  • Maintains current operator's license and meets company driver qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  • Physical demands include stooping, bending, twisting, and throwing. Working in a variety of climates and environmental conditions. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs or more on a repetitive basis.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
