Job Summary

The University of Arkansas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Research Programs to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the College of Pharmacy's research initiatives. This role will focus on administrative, strategic, and regulatory aspects of research, including grant submissions, budget management, and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate research efforts to boost grant submissions and support larger grant applications
  • Manage research and finance administration, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial obligations
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Research & Graduate Studies and other research units
  • Assist with pre-award and post-award management, including budget management for research grants
  • Manage research project logistics, coordinate various types of grants, and ensure protection for animal and human subjects
  • Handle material transfer agreements, supervise SBIR/STTR programs, and manage graduate program budgets
  • Represent the College of Pharmacy at professional forums
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus five years of administration, financial, and/or operational experience
  • Three years of project management and one year of office management experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and write comprehensive reports of project findings
  • Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business administration, healthcare administration, public health, or research discipline
  • Four years of experience in research administration and management
  • Skills in technical writing, grant writing, accounting, budgeting for research grants, and preparing online training tools
  • Experience with state and federal laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of UAMS systems, including Workday, grants management, and CLARA
