Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer in Environmental Studies to join our faculty at John Muir College, UC San Diego. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields, and a demonstrated ability to teach and engage with students from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of courses in Environmental Studies, including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that integrates topics in environmental justice and climate change with a qualitative approach to natural sciences.
  • Engage with campus colleagues and students in an academic environment representing diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Contribute to the development of the Environmental Studies minor program at John Muir College.
Requirements
  • ABD or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience or ability to work and engage with campus colleagues and students in an academic environment representing diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • PhD and/or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields (required at start).
  • One year teaching experience in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields within a University setting (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching courses that incorporate diverse perspectives, including humanities, social sciences, policy, and natural sciences.
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum that addresses environmental justice and climate change.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a desire to contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
