Job Title: Pharmacist

Northwell Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications to inpatients in accordance with established policy and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispense medications to inpatients in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  • Review written prescriptions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain records and statistics as required.
  • Adhere to required regulations and established pharmacy policy and procedures governing inpatient pharmacy services.
  • Consult with prescribers for discrepancies.
  • Report prescription discrepancies to the Director and document unusual medication orders in the intervention log.
  • Follow-up on problems until resolution.
  • Ensure dispensed medications are labeled.
  • Initiate computer-generated labels.
  • Maintain records and statistics, as required.
  • Compound intravenous admixtures.
  • Use aseptic technique in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.
  • Use knowledge of parenteral incompatibilities and an ability to determine when an incompatibility occurs.
  • Compound parenteral mixtures.
  • Prepare labels for admixtures dispensed.
  • Initial the original order and label for each admixture dispensed.
  • Maintain records and statistics, as required.
  • Dispense controlled substances.
  • Dispense controlled medications for inpatients.
  • Maintain each record utilized when dispensing controlled drugs, ensuring the appropriate, completed documentation as per required regulations.
  • Notify the management of any discrepancies noted in the controlled drug inventory.
  • Maintain medications and supplies.
  • Check inventory.
  • Order medications and supplies.
  • Receive and check medications and supplies for accuracy.
  • Notify management of any discrepancies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently licensed and registered as a Pharmacist in the State of New York.
  • Completion of a one (1) year Pharmacy internship.
  • Previous Hospital experience, preferred.
