Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operating Room Scrub/Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing essential scrub and circulator nursing services during surgical operations. As a vital member of the surgical team, the RN assists according to established protocols and practices.

ATC Healthcare is actively seeking Operating Room Registered Nurses (RNs) for 13-week contracts in a dynamic healthcare environment. Candidates should possess experience in Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery. Experience in Neurosurgery (including cranial and spinal procedures), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology is preferred but not mandatory.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be a graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Nursing program.

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Must hold a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an operating room setting is required.

CREDENTIALS

Current CPR certification at least to the BLS level, along with any other health and screening tests mandated by specific facilities or regulatory bodies. Covid-19 and current Flu vaccinations are also required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work may occur in various client facility settings, with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to ATC policies and procedures.
  • Follow nursing policies and procedures of the client facility.
  • Conduct individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on patient needs and conditions.
  • Perform ongoing nursing assessments in accordance with the patient's condition and facility protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide patient care in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner, considering cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
  • Advocate for patient rights regarding advance directives and organ donation.
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures as necessary.
  • Prepare the operating room with required instruments, sutures, and supplies.
  • As a scrub nurse, prepare and pass instruments and maintain accurate counts.
  • As a circulator, manage supplies and maintain patient documentation.
  • Ensure adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.
  • Report patient conditions to appropriate personnel based on assessments.
  • Maintain professional competency through continuing education and compliance with state requirements.
  • Adhere to ethical conduct and professional nursing standards.
  • Demonstrate effective delegation skills.
