Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Estimator to join our dynamic estimating team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimating related to our service plumbing division, contributing to our growth and success. You will work closely with Project Executives, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely project estimations that align with our high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed Take-Offs:
- Perform comprehensive plumbing and hydronic system take-offs in accordance with project plans and specifications, utilizing our company's proprietary estimating software.
- Design-Build Estimating:
- Utilize your industry experience to develop accurate design-build estimates from preliminary layouts, conceptual designs, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents across various marketplaces and system types.
- Vendor and Equipment Qualification:
- Solicit and qualify pricing quotes for materials and equipment not accounted for in the estimating software, ensuring competitive and accurate estimates.
- Evaluate and select subcontractors and vendors for assigned projects based on qualifications, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Project Specification Review:
- Thoroughly review project specifications and drawings to ensure the accuracy of estimates and compliance with industry standards.
- Pre-Bid RFI Development:
- Identify and develop Requests for Information (RFIs) prior to bid submission, addressing any ambiguities or uncertainties in project documentation.
- Proposal Support:
- Assist in the creation of written proposals, technical proposals, and project presentations, collaborating with Project Executives to present compelling and accurate project bids.
- Change Order Support:
- Provide Project Managers with detailed cost estimates for change orders, including comprehensive material take-offs as necessary.
- Job Walks and Field Reviews:
- Attend job walks and site visits as required to gain insights into project requirements and facilitate accurate estimating.
- Design Build and Technical Assistance:
- Support design-build efforts and project turnover by offering technical assistance on complex piping systems, including plan reviews, field evaluations, modeling support, and coordination with other design professionals.
Additional Duties:
- Actively participate in weekly sales and estimating update meetings, contributing insights and updates on project statuses.
- Pursue continuous improvement and professional development through training opportunities.
- Uphold and promote our company's commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Vice President.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing estimating or related field experience; HVAC hydronic experience is a strong plus.
- High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
