Disability Claims Examiner Job Summary

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Disability Claims Examiner to join our team. As a Disability Claims Examiner, you will play a critical role in making disability determination decisions for the U.S. Social Security Administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of disability benefit applications and make disability determination decisions following federal laws, rules, and policies.
  • Utilize the DDS electronic case management system to manage case files and ensure accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Participate in a 24-month training program to develop the skills and knowledge required to excel in this role.

Qualifications:
  • Two years of job-related work experience in case management, medical, insurance, law, vocational, or worker compensation fields.
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in a medical, legal, social work, or education-related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage people and develop collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and implement federal and state rules, regulations, policy, and business procedures.
