Swim Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team at the City of Spartanburg, SC. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe use of public swimming facilities by pool visitors and providing emergency life-saving services to swimmers in need.

• Ensure the safety of all participants and provide emergency life-saving services as required
• Maintain discipline in lessons and create an atmosphere of professionalism, friendliness, and safety
• Observe actions of swimmers and enforce water safety rules
• Assist lifeguards with deck preparations and organize, set up, and store teaching supplies
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records and fill out progress reports completely
• Attend all required staff meetings and trainings and adhere to Blood Borne Pathogens protocols

• Experience working with children and prior teaching experience preferred
• Must be able to successfully pass a practical water skills test, including stroke demonstration and endurance
• Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly

• ARC Fundamentals of Instructor Training
• ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification or equivalent Swim Instructor Certifications
• Current ARC CPR or CPR/PR or equivalent
• ARC Lifeguard or equivalent or YMCA YASA
• ARC First Aid
