Position Overview

The Outpatient Wound Care Registered Nurse is a specialized nursing professional dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients across all age groups, from neonates to the elderly. This role encompasses the planning, execution, education, and assessment of care for individuals with compromised skin integrity, ostomies, and intricate or chronic wounds, including those resulting from surgical procedures. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Wound Care Nurse delivers direct patient care, offers consultations, conducts assessments, provides recommendations, and continuously evaluates nursing interventions for both hospitalized and outpatient populations within the defined scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care in outpatient settings.
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient needs.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care management.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing colleagues and medical staff.

Qualifications

Essential:
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Possession of CWOCN or CWON certification, with the requirement to obtain Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) credentials within two years of employment. Must also hold a valid Registered Nurse license.
Preferred:
  • At least one year of experience specifically in wound and ostomy nursing.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Current certification as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse or Wound Ostomy Nurse.
