General Overview:
- Oversee the performance timelines of external legal counsel while improving legal assistance through the examination of legal precedents and the interpretation of mortgage loan histories, current loan statuses, investor implications, and borrower filing details for the preparation of legal documents.
- Conduct thorough research to support legal actions, develop defenses, or initiate proceedings, ensuring adherence to intricate mortgage servicing regulations pertinent to each case.
- Manage a portfolio of roughly 400 accounts, amounting to over $43 million, ensuring compliance with residential mortgage investor standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on a centralized caseload of Chapter 7/12/13 bankruptcy accounts, showcasing proficiency in each chapter for departmental adaptability.
- Assess accounts and filings against legal precedents to reduce potential financial losses.
- Prepare precise Proof of Claims to safeguard assets for the bank and its investors.
- Stay updated on U.S. Bankruptcy Court developments that may affect bank or investor assets in bankruptcy cases.
- Allocate received payments to the correct balances in accordance with bankruptcy and investor guidelines.
- Perform comprehensive research on payment discrepancies and related issues.
- Resolve intricate payment disputes, changes in escrow, and errors in mortgage assignments.
- Identify and rectify loan origination/documentation challenges to mitigate financial risks.
- Communicate essential information transparently and effectively to all involved parties.
- Comply with investor servicing standards for accurate account coding and reporting.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in banking operations or bankruptcy law.
- Strong understanding of federal bankruptcy legislation and mortgage servicing protocols.
- Familiarity with bankruptcy terminology and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent communication abilities.
- Knowledge of federal bankruptcy laws, analytical decision-making, and collaborative teamwork.
