Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic clinical setting. As a certified respiratory therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care services to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions, as well as their educational needs, and document accordingly.
  • Perform a range of respiratory therapy treatments and services, including oxygen, mixed gas, and humidity therapy, monitoring, ventilator management, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, Spirometry testing, and EKG machine operation.
  • Employ principles of therapeutic communication, interviewing techniques, problem-solving, and crisis intervention when providing patient care.
  • Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies by maintaining airways, providing oxygen and ventilation, and performing closed chest cardiac massage.
  • Facilitate workflow efficiency, monitor interdepartmental systems and processes, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an AMA-accredited program in respiratory care or higher.
  • CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) certification from the NBRC or equivalent.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification within one year of hire.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Certification Program) within one year of hire.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field.
