Fabricator Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our team in Sedro-Woolley, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently and accurately welding steel assemblies from plan specifications and quality control hold points. They will perform fitting tasks, process complex parts for assembly, and finish welding operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welding competency in all positions
  • Ability to set weld machines to optimum parameters for work in accordance with WPS
  • Understanding of weld symbols and preparation of joints in accordance with code
  • Competence in metal fabrication to exact specifications and drawings
  • Operation of machinery and tools such as grinders, saws, torches, and drills to measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal parts according to design specifications
  • Fitting, aligning, and adjusting parts to ensure proper functionality and attention to the design
  • Performance of fitting work as instructed
  • Utilization of jigs and fixtures where appropriate
  • Placement of welds of proper size, spacing, and sequence per work instruction
  • Ability to read and understand shop plans, blueprints, and work orders
  • Maintenance of the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures at all times
Requirements
  • High school diploma, general education degree, or vocational degree
  • 5+ years of experience in welding or trade school education
  • Certified welder holding current WABO or AWS certification (FCAW)
  • Skillful operation of most non-specialized metal working equipment
  • Understanding and application of visual inspection criteria in pre-QC work checks
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull, and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 70 pounds. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment.
