Position Overview

Atlantic Health System is in search of a Per Diem Environmental Services Associate for the Environmental Services Department. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment within our healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform thorough cleaning using a systematic approach in designated areas, which includes: high and low dusting, floor dusting, damp dusting, trash disposal, restroom sanitation, damp mopping, vacuuming carpets, and cleaning baseboards.
  • Conduct inspections of cleaned areas: Utilize appropriate cleaning tools to maintain all patient care areas, including nursing units, patient rooms, and other specified locations, ensuring cleanliness of floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, and furniture.
  • Adhere to all relevant State, Federal, JCAHO, Hospital, and departmental standards.
  • Responsibilities include the cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to major spills and urgent pages promptly.
  • Restock and clean housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Follow precise instructions for the preparation of cleaning solutions and the handling of biohazard materials.
  • Regularly assess environmental needs in the assigned areas.
  • Report maintenance issues as needed.
  • Stay informed about updates in environmental services by participating in departmental meetings.
  • Address moderately complex issues and escalate more challenging problems to senior staff.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required or must be obtained within two years of employment.
  • To ensure patient safety, candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience as an environmental aide or in housekeeping within a healthcare setting is preferred.
