Position Overview
As a Field Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and executing repairs and maintenance on both company-owned and rental machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold Forgen's Core Values in every aspect of your work.
- Execute the duties and responsibilities outlined for the Field Mechanic role as per the Accountability Chart.
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on the fleet of company-owned and rental equipment.

- Repair and diagnose engines, fuel systems, hydraulic components, and electrical systems.

- Document service activities through detailed reports.
- Prepare necessary documentation such as work orders and parts lists accurately and promptly.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.

- Adhere to manufacturer and company service protocols to ensure quality work and maintain records of component failures for effective analysis.

- Foster a safe working environment by complying with all safety regulations and policies.
- Communicate effectively with equipment and field managers to maintain positive relationships.
- Be available for overtime as required by operational needs.
- Undertake additional tasks and special projects as directed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

- A valid Driver's License (Class A or Class B with Air Brake endorsement) and the ability to drive for company business.

Preferred safety training includes:
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER training.
- Competent Person Safety Training.
- 8-Hour Supervisory Training.
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.
- First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with diesel technology, electronics, transmissions, and hydraulics is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a sufficient tool inventory for assigned tasks.
- Proficiency in welding, including fabrication and hard facing.
- Basic computer skills are essential.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as necessary.
- Capability to obtain Forklift and Boom Lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull at least 50 pounds without difficulty.
- Capability to stand or walk on a project site for extended periods.
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment.

- Effective communication skills with vendors, management, and colleagues are crucial.

- Regular use of communication tools such as telephone and email is necessary.
- Good manual dexterity for operating office equipment.
- Strong reasoning and decision-making abilities are important.
