Position Overview:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in our Multi-Specialty Clinics, you will play a vital role in delivering transformative healthcare to patients throughout the community.

In this position, you will apply a comprehensive approach to nursing practice within the Boys Town Specialty Clinics, which includes:
assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation, thereby ensuring ongoing health care for individuals, families, and communities.

Work Schedule:
Full-Time, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Clinical Focus Areas:
Your responsibilities will span pediatric surgery, neurology, hematology, and cardiology, with hematology requiring one afternoon monthly and cardiology two mornings monthly.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored, direct care to patients and their families within your specialty.

Exhibit age-specific proficiency in conducting initial and ongoing assessments to identify nursing care requirements; prioritize care based on these needs, which may involve input from parents or guardians.

Execute nursing care activities in accordance with patient needs or as directed by the medical provider, adhering to established protocols and procedures.

Assist medical providers with office procedures, including the preparation of supplies, medications, and instruments; participate in procedures as permitted by your scope of practice; facilitate time-outs and informed consent processes.

Provide education tailored to the patient's health concerns, considering cultural, cognitive, emotional, and social factors, as well as the patient's and family's readiness to learn; ensure relevant education is delivered prior to discharge.

Coordinate additional services as indicated by the provider, including lab work, imaging, home health, speech, occupational, and physical therapy.

Support follow-up by tracking activities such as lab and imaging orders, execution, results, and subsequent provider actions.
Maintain all required documentation thoroughly, accurately, and promptly.
Engage in available educational opportunities to enhance knowledge in your assigned specialty, including the specific physiology and pathology of relevant health issues.
Actively participate in process improvement initiatives, quality assurance efforts, and the development of procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.
Foster a positive team atmosphere and be willing to assist in other specialty clinics as needed.
Conduct and document telephone triage, prioritizing based on patient acuity and health service requirements. Demonstrate critical thinking skills while performing telephone triage.

Promptly communicate nursing assessments to the provider for recommendations based on patient or family inquiries; implement recommendations in a timely manner, ensuring clear communication with the patient and family.

Deliver patient care and education tailored to the specific population served.

Qualifications:
Must be a registered nurse with a degree from an accredited institution and possess a current state license.
BLS certification is mandatory.
Prior experience with personal computers and electronic medical records is required.
