Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bridge Superintendent with expertise in civil construction to lead our structural concrete crews.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction industry, contract documents, and plans. They will also possess excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, interpret, and enforce safety policies and practices.
  • Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structure.
  • Lay out floor-plan/worksite as needed.
  • Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure.
  • Assign workers to tasks such as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring.
  • Inspect work performed by subordinates to ensure quality.
  • Supervise workers engaged in building timber structures such as cofferdams, trestles, and supports for concrete forms.
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving work problems, and initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience as a superintendent is required.
  • Experience in bridge construction is essential.
  • Proven background in heavy civil bridge and roadway projects is necessary.
  • Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) and City/County projects is required.
  • Willingness to travel is a must.
  • Strong understanding of budget management and job cost reporting.
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and a strong commitment to safety.
