Job Summary

Volt is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rack and Stack Servers: Install and configure servers in a data center environment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Cable Management: Run, connect, and dress Ethernet cable bundles for newly deployed systems, maintaining a neat and organized workspace.
  • Hardware Replacement: Replace failed fans, motherboards, CPUs, hard drives, DIMMs, cache batteries, and related server hardware, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
  • Software Updates: Upgrade system firmware and software as needed, ensuring compatibility and security.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application teams for daily support issues, break/fix issues, and scheduled maintenance, providing expert technical guidance and support.
  • Configuration: Configure OS and Network in Unix/Linux environment, ensuring secure and efficient network operations.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot Cat6 Ethernet and Fiber Optic connections, identifying and resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Physical Installation: Utilize hand tools to assemble cabinets and install related hardware, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience working with Ethernet or fiber cables.
  • 1+ year of experience working with structured cabling, terminating, or dressing Ethernet cables.
  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting computer hardware like HDDs, DIMMs, CPUs, and physical network connections.
  • 1+ year of experience working with rack-mounted network switches/routers and servers.
  • Basic-level experience working with Linux or Unix command line.
