About the Job

This role is responsible for assisting clinicians and hospital staff in the preparation and dispensing of medication to patients and Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) staff under the direction of veterinarians and clinical pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare prescriptions and medications for inpatient and outpatient clients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate with and assist other hospital staff members and clients in person, on the phone, and through email.
  • Maintain accurate records of perpetual inventory logs for controlled substances, including stocking and managing inventory of automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Complete annual training and maintain proper technique for compounding sterile and non-sterile drug manipulation in accordance with USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800.
  • Maintain a clean working environment in the dispensary and equipment, and stock supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • 3 months experience in a pharmacy or veterinary setting handling medications.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to fill accurate pharmacy orders and communicate with various personnel.
  • Strong customer relations and communication skills, including knowledge of general pharmacy operations.
