Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary academic cardiothoracic surgeon to lead our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. As the Division Chair, you will be responsible for driving the success of our clinical, research, and education programs, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting innovation in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Division's clinical, research, and education missions
- Lead and manage a team of faculty, staff, and students to achieve excellence in patient care, research, and education
- Collaborate with departmental leaders, hospital administrators, and external partners to promote the Division's goals and objectives
- Develop and manage budgets, resources, and personnel to ensure the Division's financial stability and growth
- Recruit, retain, and develop talented faculty and staff to maintain a world-class team
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cardiothoracic surgery and translate them into innovative clinical practices and research initiatives
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification in Thoracic Surgery
- Eligibility for a Wisconsin Medical License
- Experience in academic leadership, research, and education in cardiothoracic surgery
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
