Position Overview

Role Summary:
Conducts polysomnography assessments and associated administrative tasks as directed by the medical team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Confirms the availability of relevant medical history and examination data in preparation for procedures. (Independent tasks will be performed post-graduation from an accredited RT or Polysomnography Associate's degree program).
2. Upon achieving competency, executes all polysomnography tests/procedures/scoring authorized for the role, as outlined in the Skills Checklist, including but not limited to: Polysomnography assessments and scoring of sleep studies.
3. Engages with patients or their representatives to ensure clear communication.
4. Exhibits the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver appropriate care tailored to the age of the patients served.
5. Collaborates with team members, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding diagnostic evaluations.
6. Provides mentorship and support to students and new personnel concerning polysomnography procedures.
7. Prepares and/or maintains equipment and workspaces.
8. Participates in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
9. Takes an active role in professional development.
10. Performs additional duties as required.

Additional Information:

Educational Qualifications:
* Associate's degree in Science, Polysomnography, or Respiratory Therapy within 6 months of employment.
* Completion of a formal training program in neuroelectrodiagnostics, respiratory therapy, or sleep diagnostics prior to employment.

Licensure and Certifications:
* Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT). Must be registered with the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists within 9 months of employment.
* BCLS certification.

Professional Experience:
* Minimum of 6 months experience in a Healthcare/Medical Acute Care setting.
* Prior experience in Respiratory Care, EEG, or Polysomnography is preferred.
