Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at UPMC 5W Neurology. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Provide patient care, including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living.
Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
Provide feedback to the RN regarding patient care and report changes in patient status.
Perform UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities, including ADLs, vital signs, and specimen collections.
Participate in self-review and take action to improve knowledge, skills, and performance.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues and patients.
Comply with safety policies and procedures, including standard precautions.
Document in the medical record according to established procedures.
Perform assigned work in a timely and productive manner.
Complete department clerical functions as needed.
Participate in department-based projects and quality initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
1 year of general healthcare experience or 6 months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion.
Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Act 34 clearance.
