CAD/CAM Programmer Job Description

Steel Equipment Specialists, LLC is seeking a skilled CAD/CAM Programmer to join our team. As a key member of our machining production team, you will be responsible for programming and optimizing CNC machining processes to enhance internal productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate CNC programs for part manufacture using detail drawings and 3D models.
  • Create and optimize part G-code using MasterCam software, selecting proper speeds, feeds, tooling, and tool paths.
  • Maintain a database of program files and control distribution to machines, documenting and recording revisions.
  • Determine fixturing requirements and design new fixtures as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machining-related issues and communicate effectively with machine operators and engineers.
  • Suggest and implement productivity improvements in machining and programming areas.
  • Assist the Machine Shop Manager as required.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Technology.
  • Two years of CAD/CAM experience.
  • Two to five years of experience with CNC horizontal boring mills.
  • Working knowledge of dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Practical knowledge of measuring tools and equipment.
