Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to our patients on the Medical/Surgical Unit. You will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care plans. You will also be responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-RN personnel on the unit.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
  • Develop, communicate, and document a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Implement and coordinate the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient's response to care, and readiness for discharge.
  • Plan for education after assessing the individual learning needs and readiness of the patient and family.
  • Function as a preceptor to new staff.
  • Function as a charge nurse.
  • Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development as outlined in performance review.
Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in use of computer software to include electronic patient records. Must have ability to use Internet for literature searches regarding care for patients.

Medical, surgical, oncology, and chemotherapy preferred. Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License. BLs certification required.
