A Mother-Baby Care Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, focusing on the care of new mothers and their infants.
The RN is tasked with evaluating and overseeing the physical and emotional health of both mother and child, while also offering education and support to families during this pivotal time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluating and overseeing the physical and emotional health of both mother and child.
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments.
- Supporting the initiation of breastfeeding and providing ongoing assistance.
- Educating new families on infant care, feeding practices, and bonding techniques.
- Assisting with discharge planning and providing continuous support and resources.
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate patient records.
- Responding to emergency situations and performing resuscitation as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current state nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Mother-Baby unit.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology and medical equipment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Working in a Mother-Baby unit is both challenging and fulfilling. The RN must deliver compassionate and empathetic care to new mothers and their families during a sensitive period in their lives. Additionally, the RN should be capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment and responding promptly to evolving patient needs.
This role demands a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to provide ongoing support and resources to families as they navigate the early stages of parenthood.
This is a contracted travel position, not full-time.
