Position Summary
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments with a deep understanding of the capabilities of each therapy unit. This role requires proficiency in executing various tasks related to the preparation, administration, and completion of radiation therapy procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of treatment orders and set up parameters for both basic and advanced treatments.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and demonstrate sensitivity to patient needs.
- Maintain effective communication with patients throughout the treatment process, including explaining procedures and emergency protocols.
- Schedule patient appointments to optimize machine usage and perform necessary machine warm-ups.
- Operate linear accelerators by adjusting controls and monitoring patients during treatment sessions.
Quality Assurance
- Follow established protocols for portal imaging and TLD measurements.
- Simulate patients according to established procedures and perform quality assurance checks on treatment machines.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license in Therapeutic Radiologic Technology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:
- ARRT certification and completion of an AMA-approved program in Radiation Therapy Technology.
- Two years of experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.
Additional Skills
- Ability to perform hand calculations and fabricate immobilization devices.
- Active participation in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $65.67 per hour.
