Pipe Layer Technician

Caton Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our team for our roadway project in Virginia.

As a Pipe Layer, you will be responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This includes configuring pipe routes, aligning pipes in pipeline sections, and digging trenches with trenching tools.

• Configure pipe routes to ensure efficient installation
• Align pipes in pipeline sections to ensure proper fit
• Dig trenches with trenching tools to prepare for pipe installation
• Slide pipe into trenches and insert spaces between pipes
• Pull out defective or misaligned pipes and correct alignments with sledgehammers
• Inspect pipe fittings to ensure proper spacing and alignment
• Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains
• Grade trenches or culverts to ensure proper drainage
• Seal joints using glue or welding equipment
• Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels
• Cover pipes with dirt or other material
• Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines
• Perform continual maintenance on pipes and replace those needing repair

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience in pipe installation and construction. You will also need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be physically fit to perform the demands of the job.
