About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist II to join our team at Evonik Industries. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a critical role in supporting our efforts to develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate advanced analytical instruments, including GC, GC/MS, Purge/Trap, Auto-titration, UV-Vis spectrometer, TOC, DCS, and microwatt calorimeter.
  • Support the Soil and Groundwater business by performing analyses on soil and groundwater samples to determine the amount of Peroxychem oxidants needed to clean up organic contaminants.
  • Follow detailed work plans for commercial and R&D soil and groundwater treatability studies, including sampling procedures and accurate chemical solution preparation.
  • Perform precise weighing and measurements of solids and liquids, as well as mathematical calculations, including percentages, mass, and molar concentrations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in chemistry, environmental chemistry, or a related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Ability to prepare samples with dilutions, extract, and set up on Gas Chromatographs for analysis.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to draft interim and final reports for clients summarizing procedures and laboratory results.
  • Experience with proposal writing and review, as well as work planning and development.
