Job Summary:

The Electronic Medical Records Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the electronic medical record system and related IT applications for the NorthStar Care Community and external partners. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care service delivery and medical record documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain the electronic medical record system and related IT applications.
  • Provide advanced EMR support services for staff, including on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with clinical education team to identify technical education needs of EMR end-users.
  • Develop informational and instructional resources, including knowledge-based articles, troubleshooting and training manuals, modules, and job aids.
  • Review new products/system upgrades and develop training and communication related to these.
  • Support continual process improvement and quality assurance within the EMR.
  • Travel to other office sites to implement projects and provide electronic medical records support and training as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in healthcare or information services preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with an electronic medical record system required.
  • Detailed background knowledge or hands-on experience relevant to the company.
  • Strong proficiency in using technology equipment and software applications related to the position.
  • Sound judgment and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills necessary to interact in a positive, professional manner with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain accountability and work independently and creatively while functioning as part of a cooperative, coordinated team.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and effectively communicate orally and in writing in internal and external relationships for all essential job functions.
  • Physical and mental ability to perform all essential duties required of the position.
