Facilities Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Energy Center at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the boilers, chillers, and emergency generators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Start up, put on line, and review the operations of the boilers, chillers, and emergency diesel generators according to manufacturers' manuals and specifications.
- Maintain visual inspection of each boiler, chiller, and emergency generator on a continuing basis to ensure that adequate supply of steam, hot water, and chilled water is provided to the EDCF complex at the correct temperatures.
- Check temperature and pressure gauges by visual observation, logging air pressure and temperature readings in the daily journal for documentation of operating conditions for comparison analysis and future record as required by facility rules and regulations.
- Maintain the switchgear room and standby power consisting of two generators. Inspect engines weekly. Bring power on line weekly to ensure proper functioning.
- Conduct inventory of parts and materials and order appropriately to ensure sufficient quantity is on hand for normal operations.
- Supervise inmates performing custodial duties and safety of equipment they are working around.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid Kansas Driver's License
- Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience working with boilers, chillers, and emergency generators.
